SUMMER RAIN

Jul 16, 2021

"Summer Rain" (title to be confirmed) is Ella Rothschild’s original work, created in residency at Orsolina28 for the project Focus on Creation. The audience is given the privilege of sharing the first staging of the new work by one of the most innovative Israeli young choreographers.

"We will explore the phenomenology of human relationship. Our needs to be heard, touched, and communicate with each other. Through endless attempts, we eventually confront with our loneliness that exists in our mind and consciousness. Through working with objects, puppets, texts, and movement we will seek to create short stories and narratives that reveal the truth of human existence.

The stories show the essential humanity of the characters and relate to the issues of life, existence, and the quest for happiness. The research will attempt to demonstrate the day-to-day activities of the characters together with their fantasies and dreams through which reflect their greatest fears and desires."

Ella Rothschild has worked as a creator, dancer, and teacher with the most prominent companies in Israel, among them the Batsheva Dance Company. Ella has choreographed independently and in collaboration with artists in various disciplines, intertwining in her work dance, visual art, music, and sculpture in her work.

The evening will open with EL GATO QUARTET, a quartet formed in 2014 within the "G.Verdi" Conservatory of Turin, featuring Alice Costamagna, violin, Glenda Cantone, piano, Michele Santi, double bass and Davide Pecettto, bandoneon. The group's repertoire is dedicated to the great Argentine composer of Italian origin, Astor Piazzolla, the best known and most beloved representative of the Nuevo Tango, a revolutionary genre that innovatively mixes tango and jazz.
